Joy FM OAP Faces Sack Over Comment Against David Mark

A top presenter with Joy FM, Otukpo Benue State is on the verge of losing his job for making a ‘careless’ comment about its owner, Senator David Mark.
DAILY POST gathered from a reliable insider that problem ensued during an interactive session with listeners recently, when a caller from Igbanonmaje area of the state complained about the deplorable state of a particular road linking the town. The aggrieved caller said it was unfortunate that the road had been abandoned for years with no hope of reconstruction in sight.

It was gathered that the caller further complained of the embezzlement of funds meant for Rural Access Mobility Projects (RAMP), which consists 18 roads.

The caller specifically heaped the blame on the former Senate President, Mark, whom he claimed was behind the poor handling of the projects.
Innocently, the host of the show replied the caller by saying, “that is the situation in the country my brother; the rich keeps getting richer and the poor getting poorer.”
After the show, the presenter was summoned to the Manager’s office to explain the meaning of his comment.

“The manager blasted the presenter for agreeing to everything the caller said by complementing him with such sensitive statement.
“He was queried and surcharged for not protecting the interest of their principal on air.
“We shall know his fate by 31st of this month; but from what I gathered, the presenter is on his way out,” the insider claimed.

Efforts to reach the Managing Director of the station, Mrs. Christabel Iyanya could not yield any fruit as her numbers were switched off.

James Ibori’s brother-in-law sentenced to 2 & a half years in the UK for money laundering

Rowland Nakanda, a brother-in-law to former Delta State governor James Ibori has been sentenced to a UK prison for his involvement in money laundering. London Metropolitan reports below...
Nakanda had previously been found guilty of two counts of money laundering following a month-long trial at Southwark Crown Court and was sentenced on Friday, 24 July. The investigation into Nakanda commenced during the wider inquiry into the corrupt activities of the former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, between 1999 and 2007.
Nakanda, 54 (29.01.61) of Tyne Gardens, South Ockendon in Essex is the older brother of Teresa Ibori, James Ibori’s wife. James and Teresa Ibori were convicted of fraud and money laundering in 2012 and were sentenced to a total of 18 years’ imprisonment for corruption.

Following the conviction of the Iboris, the Nakandas became guardians of the Ibori’s three children. Police identified that the Ibori children, despite their parents’ convictions, were being educated at a private school and it was established that Nakanda had continued to pay the considerable school fees. Enquiries revealed that he had paid the fees to the school’s bank account in cash over the counter through his local Lloyd’s bank in Grays, Essex. CCTV revealed that on one day alone, Nakanda paid over £15,000 in cash for the school fees of two of the children.

A financial investigation was able to trace £350,000 in unexplained cash deposits going through Nakanda’s accounts following the convictions of the Iboris. The investigation was undertaken by the Met’s Proceeds of Corruption Unit, which has now transferred to the National Crime Agency (NCA) to become the International Corruption Unit. Rupert Broad, formerly a Detective Inspector in the Met’s Proceeds of Corruption Unit, said: “Rowland Nakanda previously worked for the Royal Mail and lived a modest lifestyle with his wife in Essex. I am pleased that we were able to demonstrate that Nakanda knew that the money he was dealing with was the proceeds of criminal conduct and had originated from James Ibori’s corrupt activity during his governorship of Delta State. This sentence should act as a warning that we will go after everyone involved in fraudulent activity, however complex and wide-reaching the fraud."

A total of nine individuals have now been convicted of money laundering offences in linked cases, and have received sentences totalling over 50 years.

Nakanda was acquitted of cheating the Revenue. Rowland Nakanda’s wife, Chifu Nakanda, was acquitted of all charges.

Boko Haram can no longer confront Nigerian soldiers – Major General

The Boko Haram insurgents can no longer confront Nigerian soldiers in a battle in any part of the country, a senior army official has said.
Nasir Muazu, a Major General, stated this in Akure on Saturday at the closing ceremony of the Nigeria Army Inter Brigade Competition.
“I just came back from the North East and I can comfortably tell you that Boko Haram cannot and I repeat cannot take any offensive attack against Nigerian Forces, that one is for sure,” the General Officer Commanding 2 Mechanized Division of the Nigerian Army said.
Mr. Muazu said the insurgents, who last year displaced soldiers from several military formations in the North East as they seized several territory, had changed tactics to aiming at soft targets.
“What the Boko Haram insurgents are now doing is hitting sub-targets which indicates that their days are numbered,” he said.
He assured that the country’s armed forces are capable of bringing an end to the Boko Haram insurgency and that the military had reviewed and renewed its strategy to curb the activities of the terrorists.
Although, the Army General agreed that part of the major challenges confronting the country is the coordinated activities of the Boko Haram, he promised it would soon be brought to an end.
Mr. Muazu also said that all military commands had been placed on red alert in order to fight issues bordering on insecurity.
“We are looking forward to an Army that is responsive to the society, that would respond to the demand and needs of our people,” he said.
“I want to remind all Nigerians that this preparation of explosives by the insurgents is not carried out in the open, it is carried out in houses and hidden places. So every Nigerian must key into how we can win the battle against insurgency in the North East. I think with that support, we are going to make it.”
He assured that the Nigerian Army would continue to work for the sustenance of peace and not deviate from its professional roles of defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

A 76-yr-old retired school principal identified as Pa Alphonsus Dimgba, has reportedly died while exerting himself on an 18-year-old girl he was having s*x with.
According to reports, the incident occurred in a community in Enugu State where the old man who retired from a public school in Anambra State some years ago, had gone back to and became a community leader. But his undoing, according to residents, was his love for anything in skirt, not sparing the young and the old, even the married women.
A resident of the community who sent in the report, said that Pa Dimgba, an elder in the local Catholic Church, was so fond of philandering with other women and had been caught several times and warned to desist from such acts but he always waved such away until the last ‘supper’ which sent him to the great beyond.
“It was in the early hours of the day when most people had gone to the farms and other businesses when we heard the girl screams. The screams were so loud and unending that it drew many people towards the direction of the screams and what we found out shocked everyone. It happened in the girl’s father’s house. There we found Pa Dimgba sprawled Unclad on the floor, foaming in the mouth. Before he could be rushed to the hospital, he had given up the ghost.
The girl was handed over to the police and she confessed that it was not the first time she and the deceased had been having sex and that while they were at it, her old lover suddenly developed a seizure and slumped to the floor.”
