Electrocution: Body of late UNILAG student moved to Enugu
A social-wake was yesterday held at the Okota, Lagos residence, of Chief Basil Anekwe, father of the 300 level Accountancy student of the University of Lagos, Oluchi Anekwe, who was electrocuted last Tuesday while on her way to her on-campus apartment. This is just as the body of the deceased had been taken to her home town in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu, with preparation for burial in the pipeline.
Her devastated father who spoke with Vanguard, described the incident as a shock he might never come from. Explaining how news of his late daughter’s electrocution reached him through members of Parents Association, UNILAG, Anekwe began with lamentation: “ My tallest is gone.”
Ooni’s stool not for sale, Giesi family warns
An octogenarian Prince of Ile-Ife from the Giesi ruling house, Pa Peter Adetola Ogunleye has warned stakeholders in the town and other interested parties in the selection of the Ooni of Ife against bribery, saying Ooni’s stool is not for sale.
Pa Ogunleye, who contested for the stool in 1980 after the demise of Oba Adesoji Aderemi but lost to Oba Okunade Sijuwade declared that the Giesi ruling house would ensure that a member of the ruling house emerges as the next Ooni of Ife.
