A 45-year old man, Gbenga Lawal has been sentenced to 14 years in jail by an Oredo Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Benin City for stealing the sum of N51, 168,230, belonging to Lukas Corporate Business Nigeria Limited, his former employees. According to The Nation, Gbenga, who was a manager in the company stole from the company between 2008 and 2010.

UNILAG releases post UTME results, says 17,935 pass exam
The University of Lagos said a total of 17, 935 candidates of the 31,955 that sat for its 2015 Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) recently, passed the screening exercise.
This is contained in a statement signed by the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Information, Mr Olagoke Oke in Lagos.

Hawker charged for attempted murder
The police yesterday charged a street hawker, Arinze Okemiri, before an Ebute-Metta Chief Magistrate’s Court, over alleged attempted murder and arson.
The defendant, who has no fixed address is facing three-count charge bordering on arson, attempted murder and causing grievous harm.
The prosecutor, Emmanuel Ajayi, told the court that the defendant who hawks sun glasses had on July 20, at about 4p.m., attempted to burn down shop 19/21 Balogun street, in Lagos Island, belonging to one Malachi Ezeoke, by setting it on fire after wetting it with petrol.
UNIBEN VC tasks varsity dons on research to create jobs
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, UNIBEN, Prof. Faraday Orumwense has charged university dons to adjust their research focus in order to make it industry driven so as to create jobs for unemployed graduates in the country.
Orumwense said “The nation is currently faced with the onerous task of evolving new macroeconomics strategies that will among other things, provide the much needed jobs for teeming unemployed youths. Our graduates largely termed unemployable by industries make this task particularly more difficult, therefore, we must refocus our research for the interest of our nation.”

Jet displays to be 'significantly restricted' after Shoreham crash
