UK should do much more to help refugees

The UK has benefited from migration in the past and must do more, Ban Ki-moon says.

The UK "should do much more" to alleviate the refugee crisis, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has told ITV News.He also said the UK should show more "compassionate global leadership" over the crisis because the country has benefited from immigration and migration.

6 family members die in Lagos fire

Tragedy struck  yesterday after a family of seven were roasted in a fire that engulfed a building at Lawanson, Surulere, Lagos.
chidimmaHowever, doctors at the Intensive Care Unit  of  Gbagada General Hospital are  battling to save the life of the  seventh member of the family,  eight-year-old Chidinma who sustained serious burns.Among those who lost their lives in the inferno, whose cause could not be immediately ascertained, were Mr. Kelechi Ali, his wife, Nkiru,  Onoja, their baby boy  of about three weeks old, their son, Favour, of about three years old.

Lagos goes tough on street trading, traffic law

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State yesterday presided over the monthly security council meeting at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, with an assurance that the council will intensify its enforcement against street trading as well as ensure that the Road Traffic Law is enforced to the letter.Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, said the meeting discussed various issues bordering on street trading, robbery in traffic, influx of elements being taken as Boko Haram and some other issues, with a way to finding lasting solution.
