Arsene Wenger says he is struggling to feel sorry for Liverpool over Raheem Sterling's acrimonious exit from Anfield this summer after they refused to sell Luis Suarez to Arsenal two years ago.
The Gunners tried to land the now-Barcelona striker in 2013 with an offer of £40million plus £1 - a fee triggering a clause that meant Suarez had to be informed about the bid - but Liverpool rebuffed the move.
A year after the Anfield club sold the Uruguay international to the Catalan giants for £70m, Brendan Rodgers has seen another of Liverpool's best players leave this summer.
Manchester City paid £49m to acquire the services of winger Raheem Sterling following a bitter and public contract stand-off between the player an the club.
Wenger may have been able to relate to Liverpool's situation with Arsenal regularly losing their best players to rival clubs.
