Police nab suspected cultists in Delta

Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbers Squad in Ovwian Aladja community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State have arrested 13 suspected cultists amidst tension of cult activities in the area.

It was gathered two rival cults, Eiye and Ake confraternities, launched an attack against each other on Wednesday night, as residents fled in fear.
But the President-General of the community, Mr. Paul Odiete, who condemned the rate of cult activities in the area, said their activities have resulted in the destruction of the community town hall and vehicles worth millions of naira.
He said, “The vigilante group went for their internal security when over 50 people attacked the town hall premises, but with the help of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, who came in at about 11.30pm, we were able to arrest 13 of the boys who are now in police custody. Some firearms were also recovered from them.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Charles Muka, said the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
He, however, appealed to parents to ensure their children are occupied with the positive things.
