Delta lawmaker commends Okowa on youth empowerment

A member of Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Daniel Yingi, has commended the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, for his commitment to the empowerment of youths of the state to be entrepreneurs through his SMART agenda.

Yingi, who represents Burutu 1 constituency, in a statement in Asaba, said that the Delta Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme, STEP and Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme, YAGEP, were designed to make youths self- employed and job creators in the state.
The lawmaker, who is the chairman, House Committee on Environment, Oil and Gas, noted that the 771 youths who graduated as the first set of trainees of the STEP and YAGEP programmes have been provided the ladder to climb to greatness, particularly with the provision of starter packs to enable them take off effectively.
Yingi said empowerment and mentoring programmes were key to the prosperity agenda of the state government and congratulated the graduates for successfully completing the training programme.
