The Nigerian Football Federation have moved to deny rumours that Super Eagles and Arsenal starlet, Alex Iwobi was hospitalized for food poisoning.
It was reported on Tuesday that the 19-year-old was hospitalized after eating a salad that saw him fall ill.
“Alex Iwobi is on the pitch (as at Tuesday evening when the Super Eagles trained in Kaduna for the second time that day). He did not train on Tuesday morning because of a travelers bug. He never suffered from food poisoning,” Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye clarified.
Iwobi is yet to be capped by Nigeria at senior international level in a competitive fixture but his available for selection for the double header African Cup of Nations qualification games against Egypt.
He was the subject of a tussle between England and Nigeria after news report surfaced that the Three Lions had hoped to snatch him away from playing for the Super Eagles.
Over the weekend, Iwobi crowned his first full Arsenal Premier League debut with a goal in a 2-0 win over Everton.
He has played two friendly matches for Nigeria since he switched international allegiance from England.
