Luis Suarez has been banned for two Copa del Rey matches for his alleged involvement in a row in the tunnel following Barcelona’s round-of-16 first-leg clash against local rivals Espanyol.
Barcelona have already confirmed they will appeal the sanction.
The reigning champions won an ill-tempered match 4-1, with eight Espanyol players booked during proceedings and two sent off.
After the final whistle, a scuffle between the two teams occurred in the tunnel where, according to referee Martinez Munuera’s report, the former Liverpool man taunted his opponents.
On Suarez perhaps getting punished for his part in a post-game tunnel incident between Barca and Espanyol players, after the Uruguay forward was mentioned by name in the referee’s report, coach Luis Enrique was not keen to continue the conversation.
