Despite Nigeria’s attempts to lure Liverpool’s youngster, Jordon Ibe, to switch his allegiance, it is reported that the winger is set to commit his international future to England.
On Wednesday, Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh held talks with the 19-year-old winger at Liverpool’s Melwood training centre about the youngster’s international future.
But according to the Liverpool Echo, the talented teenager who is reportedly flattered by Nigeria’s desire to get him on board, still hopes to launch an international career with England.
Ibe, born in England, has represented England at U-18, U-19 and U-20 levels but is eligible to play for Nigeria as his dad David Ibe is from Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Ibe is expected to be named in Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21s squad for next month’s matches against USA and Norway.
He is expected to start in Sunday’s Premier League opener at Stoke City.
