D’banj confirms Olamide “borrowed” his song

Popular Nigerian entertainer, D’banj has confirmed viral reports that rapper, Olamide nicked his song.

The alleged intellectual theft became public after D’banj’s producer, Divine Austin popularly referred to as DeeVee, accused Olamide of stealing lyrical content from D’banj.
DeeVee told all who cared to listen that, Olamide’s single, ‘Don’t Stop’ which is one of crowd favorites off his “Eyan Mayweather” album, was a chopped and screwed version of D’banj’s yet-to-be officially released, ‘Shake It’.
D’banj who recently held a private screening for his anticipated visual EP, ‘An Epic Journey’ at Silverbird Cinemas, Ikeja City Mall on Dec. 15, told local media that DeeVee was saying the truth.
According to D’banj, several artistes tend to use and release material they hear in his studio and in Olamide’s case he didn’t see it as stealing.
D’banj who admitted the line, “Don’t break it, it took your mama 9 months to make it” was a popular line he heard from Prince Aremu Oniru however said he used the line in a song and told Olamide he would be releasing it after the later reportedly told him, “Baba, if you no use am, I go use am.”
D’banj who recorded his version about a year ago but didn’t put it out added, “I don’t see it as stealing. Olamide is my brother – my younger brother. So, why not?”
