Akwa United crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday following a 6-5 penalty shoot-out defeat against Vita Club of Congo, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.
Akwa United won the first leg a fortnight ago in Pointre Noire 1-0 courtesy of Friday Ubong’s first half.
They were pegged by the visitors who drew level on aggregate via a goal mouth scramble in the 54th minute.
The game went into penalty as two teams failed to find the winner.
The visitors eventually secured a 6-5 win to send the home fans disappointed.
Nigeria’s other representatives in the competition Nasarawa United are through to the first round following a 2-1 aggregate win against AS Academie Generation Foot of Senegal.
