The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Saturday won the three legislative positions contested in the Taraba’s rerun election. The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mr Habu Zarma, announced the results at a press briefing on Sunday in Jalingo. According to the announcement, PDP candidate, Mr Dan-Asabe Hosea, won the Sardauna/Kurmi/Gashaka Federal Constituency with 37,645 votes. Relatively, while the former Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Mr Abel Diah of the PDP defeated Mr Emmanuel Bongo of the APC for the Mbamnga costituecy, Mr Emmanuel Dame of the PDP got the victory for Ardo Kola state constituency with 12,138 votes over Alhaji Sanusi Janbawaile of the APC who got 11,047 votes.

- The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Sunday morning declared former Senate President, David Mark winner of the Saturday Benue South Senatorial District re-run election. The ex-senate president won with a total of 84, 192 while his main contender, Daniel Onjeh polled 71, 621 votes.


- The NNPC has notified the public to disregard any invitation on recruitment exercise.This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Ohi Alegbe, the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, on Sunday in Abuja. Alegbe in the statement cautioned the public to beware of fraudsters who are sending letters to unsuspecting individuals inviting them for “the second process of recruitment.”


- Report has it that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has recovered the sum of N381m from Mrs. Omolara Amosu, wife of the immediate past Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu. The report claims that the money was recovered in three tranches of N180m, N101m and N100m.
- The Consumer Protection Council (CPC) has directed MultiChoice Nigeria Limited, provider of Digital Satellite Broadcast Television (DStv) service to compensate and provide toll-free lines to its subscribers. This order is contained in a statement issued by the CPC Deputy Director of Public Relations, Mr Abiodun Obimuyiwa, on Sunday in Abuja. With the new order, DSTV is to suspend its service when consumers are away; release free-to-air channels even when subscription had expired and compensate consumers for lost viewing time.



- President Muhammadu Buhari will today travel to Saudi Arabia and Qatar to discuss with both countries on how to stabilize oil prices. This is even as Nigeria, Sunday, agreed to freeze the country’s crude oil production at 2.2 million barrels per day this month, same as the level recorded in January, in its effort to address the declining price of crude oil in the international market.



-The Nigerian military has said it is yet to confirm the arrest of a Boko Haram Kingpin who had been acting as Abubakar Shekau in some videos. The military said it cannot confirm whether the suspect is Shekau’s impostor until investigation is concluded on the identities of all arrested suspects.
- Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has said that corrupt people are everywhere in the country. This, he said include the social, economic, political and religious spheres of the country. He alleged that the said people were united in corruption and would protect the identity of one another. He made this statement at the annual dinner of Apostles in the Market Place in Abuja.


- Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has advised the Federal Government to devalue the Naira. He said that With the gap between the official rate of N199 and open market rate of over N400 to one dollar, Naira has already been devalued, urging Buhari to stop deceiving himself and the rest Nigerians over his Forex Policy.




-. Twelve aggrieved oil producing communities in Bayelsa State have threatened to shut down operations of Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, over the company’s handling of its relationship with the host communities. This was contained in a communique signed after a meeting attended by all the Community Development Committee, CDC, Chairmen and other stakeholders of the EA field host communities.
