The popular German manager has been out of football since stepping down from his position at Dortmund at the end of last season.
It's thought a move to England and Liverpool appeals to Klopp even though the two parties are nowhere near striking a deal just yet.
Klopp would be prove a popular appointment with Liverpool's fans after guiding Dortmund from the Bundesliga's lower reaches in 2008 to consecutive league titles and the Champions League final in 2013.
