South Korea's ex-president Kim Young-sam dies aged 87

South Korea's former president Kim Young-sam has died aged 87.The ex-leader reportedly died at Seoul National University Hospital after suffering a severe blood infection and acute heart failure.

Mr Kim, who held the post of president from 1993 to 1998, was seen as an important figure in South Korea's pro-democracy movement and for decades was a vocal opposer of the country's military dictators.
The ex-premier, who was born on Koje Island off the south-eastern tip of the Korean peninsula, served as the seventh President of South Korea and was the first civilian to hold the office in over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters.
