Ijaw group faults call for Boroh’s removal

The Ijaw Monitoring Group, IMG, has faulted the African Anti-Corruption Network, AACN’s, commentary on a radio programme, demanding the immediate removal of the new boss of Amnesty Programme, General Paul Boroh (retd), over allegations of corruption.

IMG, in a statement by Joseph Eva, said that all the points raised by AACN were the same baseless and misleading report in a national daily published recently as there were no new facts given by the group to justify demand for General Boroh’s removal.
He said: “The threat by AACN to mobilize other civil society groups to carry out demonstration against Boroh if the presidency and EFCC or ICPC fails to react to the said newspaper publication, is childish and an empty threat.
“We are not defending corruption in any sector but we will not fold our hands and allow mischief makers distract the progress in amnesty office. Everybody is free to write petitions to anywhere and they will be treated based on merit.”
