As the battle for the Creek Haven Government House in Yenagoa reaches its crescendo, the former Deputy Governor of the state and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Peremobowei Ebebi, yesterday accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate and former governor of the state, Chief Timipre Sylva, of squandering N50bn in two weeks
But in a swift reaction, Sylva described Ebebi, who was his former deputy as “childish while also dismissing his claim as “unfortunate.”
Ebebi, while speaking at the PDP rally at the weekend, accused Sylva of engaging in illegal financial and wasteful dealing during his years as governor of the state.

Ebebi who was Sylva’s Deputy for over three years before he was impeached, begged the people of the state not to vote the APC candidate, due to financial recklessness and wasteful spending while in office.
However, Sylva in a statement through the Director of Media and Publicity of the Sylva campaign organisation, Chief Nathan Egba, described the former Deputy Governor as childish and his allegation as unfortunate.
However, Sylva in a statement through the Director of Media and Publicity of the Sylva campaign organisation, Chief Nathan Egba, described the former Deputy Governor as childish and his allegation as unfortunate.
According to him, “it is unfortunate that Ebebi chose such platform to make this childish allegation after many years of leaving office. It only shows his shallow grasp of the processes of government. He spent all his time as a Deputy Governor under Chief Timipre Sylva in pursuit of peculiarly gains and never paid attention to what was happening in government.
“It is not surprising that after failing to achieve his target in office as a deputy governor, Ebebi has resorted to peddling lies and mischief for self gains with the drowning administration in the state.”
Sylva said all the speeches delivered at the PDP rally showed a party that was afraid, hence the resort to panic, an indication of impending defeat during the December 5 election.

Virtually all the speakers at the rally were exhibiting signs of panic at the realisation of the impending defeat. As they all kept making unfounded legation against Sylva and the APC in a bid to whip up voters’ sentiments against the party.
“It is particularly disheartening that a sitting governor will openly advise the people to tie up uniform security personnel if they think they are doing wrong things during the polls.”

Meanwhile, the kinsmen of former President Goodluck Jonathan in Ogbia Local Government Area of the State on Saturday, defied heavy downpour to receive Chief Timipre Sylva at the sacred Ogbia Brotherhood House in Ogbia Town.
The people who disclosed that he was the only governorship candidate to be so honoured, told the APC governorship candidate that it was an indication that the entire four clans that make up the Ogbia nationality considered him as their own.
