Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa on Wednesday sent a bill to establish the Delta State Agency for the Control of HIV and AIDS to the state House of Assembly for scrutiny.
The bill, which was presented through a letter, was read during plenary in Asaba by the Speaker, Mr Monday Igbuya.
The bill, according to Okowa, will help to reduce the devastating effect of HIV and AIDs prevalence in the state.
After presenting the bill, the Majority Leader, Mr Tim Owhefere, moved a motion for its acceptance which was seconded by Mr Anthony Elekeokuru (PDP-Ika North East).
Meanwhile, the speaker on Wednesday also described his victory at Court of Appeal sitting in Benin as “triumph for the common man and for democracy’’.
