The abductors of a consultant neurologist, Dr. Obiabo Yahaya, with the Delta State Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, Oghara, have demanded N15million ransom for his release, Vanguard reports.
Yahaya, the DELSUTH chairman of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, MDCAN, reports say was abducted on Tuesday at about 8:30pm while trying to enter his compound at Amukpe, Sapele, Delta.
The President of the DELSUTH Association of Resident Doctors, ARD, Dr. Innocent Okocha, who confirmed the incident, said the abductors have already made contact with his family, demanding a ransom of N15 million.
Okocha said: “Though the matter has been reported to the security operatives in the area, including the police, it is indeed saddening that doctors who risk their lives to render humanitarian services to the public are gradually becoming endangered species especially within Oghara and its environs.”
While appealing for the release of the victim, Okocha noted that from information gathered, he was trailed home by his abductors who whisked him to an unknown destination.
