Suspected cultists have stabbed a middle-aged man identified as John Mobor to death in Warri, Delta State.
Meanwhile, the police in Delta State have arrested six suspected cultists for their alleged involvement in the killing of the said Mr John Mobor and six others who went on rampage in Asaba.
The State Police Command in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Celestine Kalu, said the Divisional Police Officer of the “‘A’ Division Warri received information that some suspected cultists were engaged in a free for all fight at Igbo market roundabout, Warri.
“Based on the information, patrol teams were quickly despatched to the scene and met the corpse of one Mobor John ‘m’ who was stabbed on the left side of his chest and three vehicles damaged by the miscreants”. Kalu in the statement said; “one Anthony Oborume ‘m’ and five others have been arrested in connection with the crime while the corpse has been deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary, Warri for autopsy,” adding that investigation was in progress to bring all the culprits to book.
In another development, the police swooped on suspected cult members of ‘Eye’ and ‘Aye’ confraternities who were at war at Cable Point, Asaba and arrested six while others fled the scene on sighting the Anti-Crime patrol team from ‘C’ Division Asaba.
Those arrested according to the State police spokesperson included; “one Frank Nwaegbo ‘m’ aged 26yrs old, Oyea Omeka ‘m’ aged 28yrs, Ifeanyi Omeka ‘m’ aged 30yrs, Chukwunonso Ndimigwe ‘m’ aged 20yrs, and Nonso Omeka ‘m’ aged 37yrs.
She said the sixth suspect whom she gave his as Obiajunu Oyonu ‘m’ aged 18yrs was shot on his right leg while trying to escape, adding the suspect was rushed to Federal Medical Centre Asaba for medical attention.
