Premier League match report: West Ham 2-0 Liverpool

Andy Carroll came back to haunt his former club as West Ham kicked off their final year at the Boleyn Ground by comprehensively beating Liverpool.

The 26-year-old rose highest to meet a pinpoint Mark Noble cross with a thumping header on 55 minutes and wrap up only the Hammers' second victory in their last 10 matches.
Michail Antonio had earlier headed West Ham in front on 55 minutes and Liverpool were left to rue a lack of ruthlessness in attack, with Emre Can crashing a shot off the crossbar in first-half injury time and Lucas seeing a header cleared off the line by Noble in the dying minutes.
