Migrant electrocuted in the Channel Tunnel

Eurotunnel trainA migrant was killed last night at the entrance to the Channel Tunnel.

Shortly before midnight a migrant, who is believed to be a Syrian national, was found unconscious onboard a Shuttle.
Eurotunnel confirmed a freight train was stopped shortly after the French platforms at 10.20pm last night, due to the presence of a number of migrants on the tracks.
When the shuttle was searched, a number of migrants were found on board, with one unconscious and one injured.
The emergency services were called but authorities later confirmed the death of the migrant.
A French official told AFP News Agency that the migrant had been electrocuted.
It is the 10th death of a migrant in or near the tunnel since late June.
The shuttle was stopped and searched due to a number of migrants on the tracks.
When the Shuttle was searched, a number of migrants were found on board, with one unconscious and one injured.
The Emergency Services were called and immediately took them into their care. The authorities have subsequently confirmed the death of one of those taken into their charge.
This sad incident shows once again that any attempt to travel illegally through the Channel Tunnel is fraught with danger.
