Abandoned newborn baby found buried alive under rubble

A baby girl, just a few days old, was found buried alive under rubble and has been rushed to hospital by Los Angeles law enforcement officers.

Sheriff's deputies found the girl wrapped in a blanket and left in a hole in the pavement along a bike path in Compton, a city in southern LA County.

The authorities were called to the scene after residents reported hearing muffled crying.

The baby, who detectives believe to be just a few days old, was hidden under a slab of asphalt.

She was wrapped in a blanket and cold to the touch, the Sheriff's office said.

She was taken to a local hospital and is reported to be in a stable condition.The girl's parents are not known.
