MTN warns subscribers not to pay any fee for registration

MTN Consultant on Wednesday in Abuja warned subscribers not to pay any fee to anyone while registering their SIM cards.
Mr Adeyinka Adeniyi, the Trade Marketing Consultant, MTN in Abuja told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview that collection of any fee or fine during the process of registration was illegal.
He said that nobody should pay any money for registration “because there is nothing like registration fee’’.
He was reacting to complaints by some subscribers that they were asked to pay N100 at an MTN outlet in Phase 3, Kubwa, a satellite town in Abuja
It would be recalled that MTN had been sending out text messages to subscribers to register their SIMs and compensation ranging from NI000 to N20, 000 are being sent to them.
