Patience Jonathan, Peter Odili, Ben Bruce attend Wike’s Thanksgiving Service

River’s Governor Nyesom Wike has accused President Muhammadu Buhari waging a one-sidedness fight against corruption and ignoring the corruption cases against his predecessor, former Governor Rotimi Amaechi who is now Buhari’s transport minister.

Speaking on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at a well attended thanksgiving celebration of his electoral victory at the Supreme Court, Wike said he would rather fight corruption his own way than support the Buhari’s skewed anti-corruption campaign which would never deliver justice for the people of Rivers.
“We would not support the fight against corruption. People took our money from the state, and we wrote to the police asking them to go and make a statement; nothing has come out of it,” he said. “We won’t take anybody to the EFCC because I know what would happen. We know how to fight our own way. We won’t support that war against corruption that they are doing.”
Wike also revealed that he would have accepted the verdict of the Supreme Court, but he would not run again if the court sacked him. He went on to applauded the apex court for helping to prevent bloodshed in the state.
“Blood would have flown if the election was going to hold again,” Wike said at the celebration ground which had the former first lady, Patience Jonathan in attendance.
