Minister uncovers N280m sports equipment rotting away at Abuja National Stadium

The Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Barrister Solomon Dalong, yesterday at the Abuja National Stadium discovered equipment worth more than N280million wasting away at the stadium’s various store rooms unused.

It was gathered that the equipment was imported some 16 months ago and had been kept in its cartons without anybody asking for it to be used for the various sports in the country.
The Special Assistant Media to the Honourable Minister of Sports, Mrs. Nneka Anibeze, disclosed that the cartons and cases in which they were supplied by three different contractors have been intact unassembled, uninstalled and not in use since they were brought into the country for specific reasons!
