Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukar Buratai said the army has approved the special promotion for 5000 gallant soldiers fighting Boko Haram.
He said while this is to boost the morale of the fighting troops, approval has also been given for N321m for payment of education sponsorship of deceased personnel children for 2014/2015 academic session.
He said over 1,082 families benefitted from the sponsorship scheme this year. He then issued a deadline of December 15 to all overweight soldiers to get into shape. He decried that many of them have not paid the needed attention to their physical fitness, which has led to many of them being overweight with tendency for obesity and its attendant health risks
