Current champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Enyimba, will kick off the defence of their title, with an away game against Dolphins on the weekend of February 20 and 21.
Dolphins last defeated the Peoples’ Elephant in March 2011, winning 2-1 at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt. But Enyimba have avoided defeat in their last four visits.
On the opening day of the new NPFL season, Heartland will also host last season’s runners-up, Warri Wolves.
Two promoted sides, Plateau United and Niger Tornadoes will take on each other. Former champions, Kano Pillars, welcome Enugu Rangers and El-Kanemi Warriors and Wikki Tourists will clash in a North East derby.
