JOSE MOURINHO wants to bring Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder to Manchester United if he is appointed the new boss at Old Trafford.
United chiefs have already sounded out the Special One, who was sacked only last week by champions Chelsea and Mourinho, 52, believes Holland schemer Sneijder could be the “game-breaker” United need.
The midfield maestro was a key part of Mourinho’s all-conquering Inter Milan side that won the Champions League in 2010 as well as the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia.
Sneijder left Inter in January 2013 for £8.4million to move to Turkish giants Galatasaray.
But he is now unhappy at Galatasaray and would be the perfect fit for Mourinho’s Manchester United in every sense – a dressing room acolyte, capable of telling the rest of the squad how good the manager is, and also someone who buys into his work ethic.
Mourinho is waiting for United’s minitial approaches to be replaced by something concrete if Ed Woodward and the Old Trafford board make the big call to sack Van Gaal.
Mourinho is favourite for the job, afterUnited slumped to a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Norwich on Saturday.
The Special One was given the sack by Chelsea last week following a run of disastrous results.
