Vardy emerges Chelsea's number one January transfer target

Interim Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has identified Leicester City No.9 Jamie Vardy as his primary target in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.
The report claims that Blues owner Roman Abramovich is willing to fund Hiddink’s proposed move for Vardy, as he has faith in the Dutchman’s judgement.
This is despite the current boss only being in charge for the remainder of 2015/16, with a new head coach set to be appointed in the summer.
With Chelsea’s failing this season though – the Blues sit just three points above the relegation zone – reinforcements will arguably be necessary for Hiddink’s squad.Vardy is currently the top scorer in the Premier League, with 15 goals. In Europe’s top five divisions, only Gonzalo Higuain (16) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (18) have outscored the Leicester attacker this season.
His most recent goal came against Chelsea, with Vardy spearheading a 2-1 win for the Foxes. That game ultimately proved to be Jose Mourinho’s last as Chelsea manager – Hiddink was appointed five days after Vardy’s strike.
The England international’s form has contributed to Leicester’s outstanding start to the Premier League campaign, which sees them top of the table, two points clear of Arsenal.
Vardy has failed to score in a mere 4/17 league outings this term, whilst the East Midlands outfit are the only side in the division to have netted in every match of 2015/16.
The Blues – lest we forget, reigning champions – are 20 points behind the Foxes at present.Hiddink’s first game in charge comes on Boxing Day, as Chelsea face in-form Watford at Stamford Bridge.
