1. The immediate past administration of Goodluck Jonathan has been blamed for the ongoing fuel scarcity across the country. According to the Information Minister, Lai Mohammad, Jonathan did not make provision for fuel subsidy in the 2015 budget. He also blamed the administration of not putting to order vandalized pipelines, which has now contributed to the scarcity currently being experienced in the country.
2. In an effort to end the ongoing fuel scarcity across the country, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has deployed about 200 truck loads of fuel to Abuja. This was disclosed in a
statement signed by Mr Ohi Alegbe, General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, on Monday in Abuja. He further warned against diversion and other deals that will add to the current scarcity.
3. The Federal Government, Monday, said it would not be intimidated by MTN’s court action against the fine it imposed on the communication network, insisting that the company risks another fine if it fails to pay on the given deadline. Minister of Communications, Mr Adebayo Shittu, further affirmed that the December 31 deadline was sacrosanct.
4. A group under the auspices of Faleke Solidarity Movement (FSM), has threatened to make Kogi State ungovernable if Abiodun Faleke is not declared the Governor-Elect of the state by January 10, 2016. The group gave the warning in a communique released after its End-of-the-Year meeting in Kabba.
5. The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday reserved judgment in the appeal filed by Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba against the nullification of his electoral victory. According to Justice Abdul Aboki, the date for the judgment in the appeal would be announced by the court as soon as possible.
6. Reports have claimed that after today’s presentation of the 2016 budget by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly, the lawmakers will quickly do justice to the budget by ensuring that it scales through first reading before they proceed on Christmas break.
The Nigerian military has warned against the new tactics by Boko Haram insurgents to carry out attack on innocent citizens. According to Rabe Abubakar, a Brigadier General and acting Director Defence Information, some of the tactics include crying and feigning pains as well as shouting to attract sympathy from unsuspecting public, after which, bomb will be detonated.
8. The British Secretary of State for Defence, Mr Michael Fallon, has said his country will send more military advisers and trainers to Nigeria to assist in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency.

9. The Federal Government has proceeded to a Federal High Court in Abuja to prefer six more charges against Kanu, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi of IPOB. According to the fresh report, the charge-sheet which was signed by the Director, Public Prosecution (DPP), Mohammed Saidu Diri, for the Attorney-General of the Federation indicates that Kanu and the two others were charged with treasonable felony which is punishable under Section 41(C) of the Criminal Code Act, CAP C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.
10. In sports, the home-based Super Eagles will take two days off from their pre-tournament camping in Abuja as Christmas break. Players and officials of the team will proceed on break as from Wednesday (December 23) to resume on Boxing Day ( December 26)
